Birthday Presents for the Adventurer Boyfriend: The Essentials
When it came time to buy my boyfriend a birthday present, I started to draw a blank. As the adventurous type, he’s somewhat difficult to buy for sometimes, especially as I’m not a very outdoorsy person myself. I generally try to find something that we can do together but this year decided it was time to find something for the adventurer in him. Not being a pro at this, it was hard at first to come up with a few good ideas but I found a couple that I think would work for any adventurer out there (and might even get me to go outdoors with him).
Camping and outdoors gear seemed like the easiest way to go when it came to a present. My boyfriend loves to carry around water bottles but they always seem to leak and cause a huge mess wherever you hide them at. So when I found this CamelBak Hydration Backpack, I figured that I had struck gold. A backpack that holds water in a reservoir yet has all the pockets and space needed for other rations is perfect for him when hiking, biking or even running. Plus the mouth piece requires you to bite down on it to get water out, which eliminates the leaking problem.
Another idea that my mind immediately jumped to was a pocket knife, especially one that he could take with him hunting and camping. When I found this knife from SOG Specialty Knives & Tools I knew that it was the one for him. It’s technically an emergency knife which means he can also carry it around on a daily basis (it has a seatbelt cutter and a window breaker for situations when you’re trapped in a car). But it’s the name that makes me most comfortable with this purchase since they’re known for making quality products that last for ages.
When all else fails, I always fall back on clothing, as my boyfriend has a bigger closet than I do. But trying to stick with my adventurer theme, I decided to look for something that would help him go outdoors in the bad weather. This Under Armour Fleece Hoodie was perfect for him because he could wear it out around town or use it when he heads to the mountains for those long, wintery hikes. Under Armour makes amazingly comfortable clothes so I’m positive that he’ll enjoy this one as much as I would. Plus, it comes in a variety of different colors so I don’t have to worry about finding the right hoodie with the wrong color.
It turns out that choosing a birthday gift for my adventurer boyfriend wasn’t as hard as I had originally thought and I’m so excited to give it to him. Hopefully this means he’ll be out of the house a little bit more. I’m hoping I’ll get a chance to try some of these out with him when summer rolls around (I’m not braving the cold!).
