4th Year Anniversary Gifts for Boyfriend
Every year, at Christmas, his birthday, and our anniversary, I have the same issue. I have to find a great gift for my boyfriend, but he’ll never give me any hints at all. He’ll say, “Oh, I don’t know. Whatever…” or “Don’t get me anything,” just because he has trouble asking for things for himself. He’s such a sweetheart that he’ll go all out on me, but he won’t ask for anything at all for himself.
Fortunately, since we’ve been together for four years, I know that – though he understood the year that I was unemployed and couldn’t afford much in the way of gifts – he really just wants something thoughtful. The year that he decided to train for a half-marathon through the bitter cold winter months, I bought him four pairs of Smartwool Socks and a new pair of running shoes as a Christmas gift for boyfriend. He looked like he was going to cry because my gift was linked with something I knew he really wanted to accomplish.
What Should I Get for My Boyfriend for Our Anniversary?
For our anniversary this year, I’ve done some thinking. I looked up the traditional wedding anniversary presents for year four, but they’re just fruit and flowers. “Thanks a lot, tradition,” I thought. Not only are we at nearly half a decade, the man has put up with me through the past two years, as I’ve been going to grad school and working fulltime. He deserves something better than a few roses and an apple.
Then it hit me. Apple! He’s a huge fan of Macs, and there are a few accessories and supplies he’s been holding off on. So, in keeping with the four-year fruit-and-flowers theme, I ordered him an Apple TV and a new case for his iPad. When they arrived, I took them to the florist and got him to put them in a “Happy Fruit and Flowers Anniversary!” arrangement.
It was a little bit silly, and I knew he wouldn’t even know that four years had anything to do with fruit or flowers. It didn’t matter, though, because he loves my random interest in trivia, and he loves Mac products. I incorporated a little bit of each of our interests into my boyfriend present ideas that he’ll love to use.
My advice for any ladies trying to find the perfect anniversary present for any year is to think about something he loves. Make it about him because he makes everything else about you, but don’t be shy about making it a little fun or silly. When my boyfriend saw what looked like a fruit and flowers basket, he looked perplexed at first, like, “Is that it? Am I in trouble?” Then he saw the Apple TV nestled into the mix, and he laughed and gave me a huge hug and kiss.
Every time I’ve ever really won at gift giving for my man, it’s been because I really focused on what he likes. He loves running, and he loves electronics, especially Mac products. Encourage your man’s hobbies and goals by getting him things that will help and that he’ll really enjoy using… Now I just have to figure out how to top this next year when we hit five years!
