Practical Christmas Gifts for Your Boyfriend
I don’t know about you ladies, but my boyfriend is a really practical, pragmatic kind of a guy. It’s actually why we get along so well. While I love jewelry and flowers as much as the next girl, when he bought me an iPad for Christmas last year, I was overjoyed. See, I do a lot of running around for my job, and sometimes lugging my laptop with me is just too much. Having that tablet has saved me a lot of time and shoulder strain. When I’m off to a remote job site, I just slip the iPad in my purse, and I’m off!
So, of course, I have to get him something really great this year for Christmas, and – in his mind – “really great” means “incredibly practical”. I need to get him something he’ll use all the time, and that will make his life that much easier and better. So how can a girl decide on the best gift for her boyfriend? Well, I already know I need to make this thing practical. Now I just need to think about what he does and what he loves. While a chainsaw or a snow blower would be great a couple of times a year, they won’t really help him out all the time. Also, I want him to think of me whenever he uses this gift, so I probably don’t want to buy one he’ll only use in bad conditions and emergencies.
Get Him Something He’ll Enjoy Using
My thought process for this is pretty universal for a gift for just about any guy. You just have to think about his hobbies, his habits, and his work. If he loves his job, something related to work is safe, but if he doesn’t like what he does and is looking to change professions, steer clear of job-related gifts. The only exception here is if he’s looking for a different job, you can get him something to help him in the job hunt. A new Kenneth Cole Reaction Luggage Briefcase or an upgrade to his phone would go over great here, but if he works in finance and wants to jump ship to marketing, don’t get him any fancy calculators.
I’ve gotten my boyfriend into running. It’s something we do together a lot, and it’s something he’s gotten into on his own, as well. Since he loves hitting the pavement in the mornings, I decided that this year I’m going to buy him a heart rate monitor so he can keep track of miles, cardio, calories burned, and everything else he wants to learn about his daily run.
If you and your boyfriend like to travel, or you’re really into hiking or biking, you might want to consider getting him a GPS. I got my boyfriend a Garmin GPS a couple of years ago. We don’t go on as many hiking trips as we’d like to, but he still uses it to get around town almost every day. The point is, think of things that he’ll enjoy using a lot. He’ll think of you and smile every time he uses his new phone, his briefcase, his GPS, or whatever you get him. Practical gifts are the biggest win for any holiday.
